Pittenweem Community Council has prepared a Local Place Plan.



We held consultations with Pittenweem Primary School children in March 2023 and a report of the outcomes is available here.

The project was an interim ‘stepping stone’ stage in the process while the community council seek out options for a full Local Place Plan exercise. It was supported by the Rural Ideas into Action Fund.
The aim was to engage with local children and encourage them to share their thoughts and ideas on the place they live in. We worked with the children on March 2023, running a project logo competition and a "Two Stars and A Wish" activity. The former encouraged children to think creatively about what makes their community unique and come up with a name and image for a potential Local
Place Plan engagement project. The winning logo and consultation name is "Dream of Pittenweem"

The latter allowed them to share what they loved about Pittenweem through drawing and/or writing and what they would like to see changed.

2023 Pittenweem Sustainability  Festival

Pittenweem Community Council (PCC) organised a Sustainability Festival on 23rd March 2023. All homes in Pittenweem were mailed with an invitation to the event, with posters across the East Neuk.
The Parish Church Hall was open from 2pm to 6:30pm to allow access for all, there were stalls promoting energy conservation, active travel and consultation on the proposed multiuser path, progress on the Pittenweem community consultation and a photographic display of PCC activity and achievements over recent years. 
The festival was well advertised, the weather favourable and attendance was excellent with an estimate of 116 visitors. The catering by David Barnett was first-rate, and many visitors spent one to two hours discussing the exhibits. The Pittenweem Community Library kindly provided children’s activities allowing parents to concentrate on the displays and this encouraged more young families to participate.
 This covered:

Safer Paths - the multiuser cycle and walking path:
  • What are the benefits of Active Travel?
  • How can we make it safer to walk and cycle around Pittenweem?
  • Discover the proposed route of the multiuser path from Kilrenny to Elie.
Greener Homes - get expert advice:
  • Help with your energy bills.
  • How can you save energy in your home?
  • Solar panels / Heat Pumps and other technology.
Pittenweem’s Future - find out about:
  • The results of consultation with Pittenweem Primary School children.
  • What is a Local Place Plan? What is it for? Tell us what you think.
Something for all the family:
  • Children’s craft activities and storytelling from 3pm to 5:30pm (provided by Pittenweem Community Library volunteers).
  • Free food and drink for all.

2022 Consultation

In June 2022, volunteers delivered a questionnaire to every household and over 1,400 comments were made about what people liked about, were concerned about, and would like to change in Pittenweem.  and the full report is here: Detailed Survey Report

2012 Consultation

In 2012 the Community Council surveyed all the households in Pittenweem.
"Pittenweem Community Council aims to work closely with Fife Council and community groups to ensure Pittenweem remains a wonderful place to live, work and enjoy. "
